Heurich Classics, a Bavarian company specializing in custom work, was commissioned to revert this Viper back to it’s original race-ready build. And it’s road legal. Do want!
This is the winning car of the Zakspeed racing, sold in 2010 to a private owner. After which, the owner approached Heurich Classics, founded in 2006 in the Bavarian Zeitlofs-Rupboden specializing in custom work, to convert this Viper with the aim of getting it back to its race-ready condition.
The list of stuff to be done seemed to be endless: Cut spoiler, rear diffuser removed, side channels rebuilt, new tires and wheels (specially ordered), brake system changed and hand brake system with CNC-machined caliper carriers installed. Also, the steering angle has been increased, cooling system changed, additional fans installed, engine peripherals modified, exhaust system adapted, electrics and complete light control changed, seats as well as harness were renewed, passenger seat installed, and finally the glazing, it was also renewed.
The visual aim was to recreate the Viper in its original Hasseröder design which won the legendary 24 h at the Nürburgring in 1999. The company Bruxafol in Hammelburg accepted the challenge. But the task was to get the colors of its time by means of platinum wrapping foils and to feature the “old” sponsors along with their trademarks. The company Cam Shaft in Kempen, was roped in too to help with the visuals.
The Viper GTS-R, which was the car that won firstly the Zakspeed and then Michael Martin Racing Systems, is from 1998 and features a 6.2-litre V8 with 600 horsepower, the car is equipped with a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox, KW dampers and a Motec M8 system. With all that, it only weighs 1350 kg.
According to the owner, there are many more plans for the Viper…
