Is This The Real FT-86?

Someone posts a picture of the FT-86′s upcoming brochure and it goes viral. Says a lot about the enthusiasts who have been patiently waiting for their new street whip for… years?

Adding a whiff of authenticity of the image is the reference to “Modellista“, Toyota Japan’s in-house tuning division. This page shows the bodykit that includes front and rear lips, a door decorative strip as well as side skirts. Pardon our poor grasp of the Japanese language but it does seem that this “trim”  is only available in 3 colours as standard.

The second image shows the interior and what we can see from this is that Toyota will offer the FT-86 with a choice of an automatic or manual (YEAH!) transmission options. Zoom in and note that the Subaru-style ring that you need to lift to shift into reverse gear. Other notable features: two interior style choices, an engine start-stop button and a button to switch off Toyota’s VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) . Let’s not forget the clearly LFA inspired gauges and the 2+2 seating concept although we’re not sure how big… or tiny the rear seats are.

Well this image, combined with Carscoop’s scoop of a Gazoo Racing-prepared FT-86 test mule, yes, we’re sold. The FT-86′s launch at the Tokyo Motor Show  is just a mere 2 months away from now. Until then, this is probably the best glimpse into the future. We’re waiting…

…for someone to leak the BRRZZZ and the FR-S.

UPDATE: The admin of www.ft86club.comHachiroku has posted more pictures of the alleged actual brochure of the FT-86. Translation by Ichitaka05 from the same forum too!

UPDATE 2: Nardi330 from www.ft86club.comhas posted more pictures of the spec sheets of the FT-86. Translation by Spaceywilly and dimension6.

If you can’t see the text properly, the FT-86 is powered by a 2.0-litre engine producing approximately 200 hp with 205 Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearboxes offer 6-speeds and the automatic option will offer paddle shifts as an option. The lightest option for the FT-86 weighs in at 1190kg (no A/C, radio, alloy wheels, etc). With the “normal” equipment lists and MT transmission: 1210kg.

Also note the fuel economy of 13.0km/l – pretty amazing if you ask us.

And we have the colour options from the Scion FR-S Facebook page:

Shout, shout and let it all out!
