Preparations for the Volkswagen Women’s World Cup 2011 took one more step towards completion today, with the handover of the official event cars from Volkswagen Singapore to the event organiser, the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA).
The fleet comprises 12 units of the Passat executive sedan, and two units of the Phaeton luxury sedan. Players and officials will be driven by a team of professional chauffeurs to and from the Toa Payoh Sports Hall, where the event is being held from 28th to 30th October 2011.
“We are excited to have Volkswagen as the official title sponsor of this prestigious international event and we look forward to developing this partnership with Volkswagen to many more years,” said Er. Dr. Lee Bee Wah, president of the Singapore Table Tennis Association, after receiving the keys to the cars.
Said Dr. Zeno Kerschbaumer, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Singapore: “The Volkswagen brand is synonymous around the world with top- level innovation and technology, so we are naturally very proud to be the title sponsor of this world class event, during which Singaporeans can catch the very best table tennis players in action.”
“I am confident that the players, as well as the officials from the Singapore Table Tennis Association and International Table Tennis Federation, will enjoy the space, comfort and performance of the new Passat and Phaeton,” he continued.
The 12 Passat 1.8 TSI cars will be pre-sold to the public at a very special price before the event. Customers will then be able to take delivery of the cars after the event’s conclusion.
