BMW’s roadster receives a slight nip-tuck and some new equipment options.
Fans of Munich’s sporty two-seat drop-top will have reason to cheer, as the facelifeted 2013 models reaches our shores. We’ve already highlighted what’s new in a previous article (click here), but here’s a quick summary of the main updates.
First up, the engine lineup will remain the same as before. That means a turbo'ed 2.0-litre in the sDrive20i and sDrive 28i, and a twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight 6 in the sDrive35is. Transmission options are an 8-speed ZF automatic for the 20i and 28i, and a 7-speed DCT for the 35is (although we'd totally recommend asking the dealer to indent you a car with the slick 6-speed manual).
Revisions to the exterior are limited to chrome surrounds for the turn indicators and new twin circular headlamps with ring-shaped LEDs that function as daytime running lights, so you can have your 'Angel Eye' look even in the day. Customers can now also spec the roof in contrasting Black or Glacier Silver, or have the car in stunning Valencia Orange that was first made famous by the riotous BMW 1M.
If you want that bright orange hue though, you'll first have to spec the Design Pure Traction equipment package, which gives you a contrasting interior colour scheme; the black interior is lifted by various orange trim pieces, such as the stitching in the leather, a vertical stripe running up the middle of the seats, lower dashboard mouldings and Alcantara door inserts.
The BMW Z4 Roadster is now available for viewing at Performance Motors Limited, 303 Alexandra Road.
