BMW Asia is set to unveil the new BMW M235i Coupé this coming Friday, February 28th.
The BMW M235i Coupé is a high-performance model in the premium compact segment, powered by the most powerful petrol engine developed so far for a BMW M Performance Automobile model.
The M235i Coupé promises handling properties that are impressive, a result of extensive modifications made by BMW M GmbH engineers to the components involved in maximising the car’s sporting ability. “The BMW M235i Coupé is the newest addition to the BMW M Performance Automobiles range that was first introduced in Singapore in late 2012. This new range of cars is positioned between the regular BMW vehicles and the motorsport-inspired BMW M cars, and is targeted at sporty drivers with the preference for more driving pleasure without compromising on everyday usability,†said Mr Sethipong Anutarasoti, Corporate Affairs Director of BMW Group Asia.
The straight-six engine powering the BMW M235i generates a maximum output of 326 hp from its 3.0-litre displacement, while peak torque of 450 Nm between 1,300 and 4,500 rpm. A twin-scroll turbocharger, High Precision Direct Injection with centrally positioned multi-hole injectors, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-VANOS variable camshaft control team up to ensure instantaneous power delivery and the free-revving characteristics.
The BMW M235i Coupé is equipped with a Sport automatic gearbox, and comes with a Launch Control function, which enables traction-optimised, maximised acceleration off the line. The standard-fitted Driving Experience Control switch on the centre console allows the car’s set-up to be adjusted at the touch of a button through COMFORT, SPORT and ECO PRO settings. SPORT+ mode is also available.
Sports-configured spring and damper systems comes standard, including specific elastokinematics for the front axle. M Sport braking system and variable sport steering are also fitted straight from the factory. Another performance product offered exclusively for the BMW M235i Coupé is the BMW M Performance limited-slip differential; This mechanical rear axle differential system optimises traction when the car is driven enthusiastically.
When the DSC stability system is switched off, this torque-sensitive limited-slip differential ensures power is split between the rear wheels to optimise traction. Reacting to differing torque between the driven wheels, it reduces slip at the wheel with low grip by channelling power to the other wheel through a locking effect.
Other goodies include Sport seats for both driver and front passenger, Sport automatic transmission, variable sport steering, Adaptive M suspension, M Sport brake, 18-inch M light alloy wheels, Park Distance Control (front and rear), Harman Kardon HiFi loudspeaker system and navigation system.
The M235i retails for $253,800 with COE.
