Consumers now able to grab an on-demand driver in a premium car - without hassle and cost of ownership.

GrabTaxi, Southeast Asia’s largest taxi-booking mobile phone app, launches GrabCar, a complementary service that enables users to book a private hire premium car through their smartphones.

GrabCar operates on the same mobile application platform as GrabTaxi, while ensuring a seamless experience for customers wanting the choice between booking taxis or premium cars.

Here in Singapore, commuters want to get to their destination in the quickest possible time. Through data gathered since the launch of GrabTaxi last year, there are still pockets of time when the demand for taxis is not fully matched by supply. As such, GrabTaxi saw an opportunity to fill this gap through GrabCar without taking away business from their core user base of taxis.

“The inclusion of GrabCar as part of the GrabTaxi service shows our desire and ability to meet our customers’ needs especially during peak hours. It offers them access to a wider network of taxis as well as premium cars. The inclusion of GrabCar as part of the GrabTaxi network will give our passengers that personalised experience, while at the same time, ensuring quick, safe and reliable rides,” said GrabTaxi founder and Group CEO Anthony Tan.

To make a booking, passengers select “GrabCar” as their “car type” in the GrabTaxi app. They will know the exact fare of their journey prior to confirming their GrabCar booking and payment is in cash.
