Racing on a circuit is every motor sports enthusiast’s dream. And even if you are unable to do that, you can now replicate your dream albeit scaled down in the form of slot car racing.

And where else better to do it than on the six metre by 3.6 metre slot car racing track owned by Hobby East? Managed by Chris Chua, the store initially started off as Chris Toys at East Point Mall back in 2007, selling slot car racing sets and railway models.
With the increasing number of customers as well as products, a bigger place was required. Thus from a tiny store in East Point, Hobby East decided to move their operations elsewhere, whereby they are able to accommodate a huge slot car track, merchandise as well as more customers, hence their present location – a shop with space of more than 1,000 square feet at 3016 Bedok North, Avenue 4, #01-19, Eastech Building, a short walking distance from the Simei MRT station. Ample parking is also available for car owners.
Within the new premises, Hobby East has decided to streamline their operations, choosing to concentrate more on their slot car racing track rental and the sale of slot car products. Their slot car track comes equipped with a professional computerised lap counter with split second lap information displayed on a LCD TV. Hobby East is also available for booking all day, every day of the week for up to 20 people for private events such as birthday parties, corporate gatherings etc.
This December, Hobby East will be launching their Slot Racing Club Membership. For a fixed sum, members will receive unlimited track usage and membership fee credited back with the purchase of a new slot car. Per day entry rates for those who want to try are also available with included car and controller. See blog link below for more details. On Saturday, 18 December 2010, Hobby East in conjunction with Hobby Bounties will host the first leg of an inter-club slot car race competition.
