The German round of the FIA GT1 World Championship has been confirmed and will take place at the 3.6km Sachsenring circuit, the home of the German MotoGP event, from 13 to 15 May 2011.

This will be the first visit to the circuit by an FIA GT Championship, with the GT1 World Championship joining the highly successful ADAC Masters Weekend, which is one of the most popular national GT events on the German motorsport calendar, attracting over 32,000 spectators in 2010.
First used in May 1927, the Sachsenring track situated 80km south of Leipzig near the town of Chemnitz in the South East of Germany, is 3.671km/2.281 miles in length, features 14 turns with a ¾ km straight and is one of the most challenging circuits in Europe. The Sachsenring is one of the four new tracks for the 2011 GT1 season. The other three include Zolder (Belgium), Curitiba (Brazil) and the Ordos International Circuit (China).
