SingTel: Fast Is Amazing

BY Krado Low

After making the announcement that they will continue as Title Sponsor for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix for two more years, what does Singtel have in store for us this year?

More than ever, Singapore's F1 fans will get more ways to whet their appetite for speed. “Fast” is the theme that runs throughout the slew of events that will be held in Singapore over the entire F1 season, with the notion of bringing the action closer to the community.

For starters, the races will be screened at various locations in the heartlands, from shopping malls to food outlets. Keeping up with the pace of technology, races will be broadcast in full high-definition and 3D formats.

From the comfort of home, races will also be streamed via the Mio platform and on ESPN Player, a video-on-demand service which can be accessed via a computer or other mobile devices. ESPN Player users will also get an alternate view of the action - six cars fitted with on-board cameras will give viewers a different perspective of the action.

Singtel's bringing their two upgraded F1 car simulators over the island too. With more motion capabilities, the simulators will be the foundation for the 24-hour challenge, where 40 of the fastest participants will form eight teams to race around the clock.

A new programme, in collaboration with the Singapore Motor Sports Association, will be sending 30 fastest youths on the simulator off on an accredited go-karting course. The speed doesn't just apply to motoring enthusiasts only, Singtel's F1 site will be where the biggest race will be held. Dubbed “Fast is Amazing”, there will be several categories, some earmarked for entry into the Guinness World Records in which everyone can compete with their fastest feats.
