The third model DS line is designed to be Citroën’s “Créative Technologie†flagship, combining style, performance and refinement with innovative engineering.
The company has already pushed the DS line-up into the lime light with the fantastic DS3, not forgetting the stylish DS4. The DS5 is targeted at customers looking for a truly bold and assertive car with a resolutely modern approach to vehicle design.
Based on the C-SportLounge concept, the DS5 is designed with smooth-flowing lines, a sleek profile and muscular wheel arches that wrap around large alloy wheels. There is an over sized air intake, a large chrome-finished grille housing the chevrons and a new LED light signature. A distinguishing feature, the DS5 boasts of a chrome-finished “sabre†inserts stretching from the top of each head lamp to the windscreen.
The rear design gives the car a firm stance with two tail pipes built into the rear bumper and highlighted by a rear signature featuring six light guides. The cabin's design mirrors the exterior styling as well. The driver-focused cockpit features a coupé-like driving position with a near-vertical steering wheel and a wide centre console.
Mixing technology with style, the colour Head-Up Display projects essential information into the driver’s line of sight and the ambient lighting bathes the cockpit in a heady mix of red and white. Looking elsewhere, the DS5 is full of premium materials such as fine-grain Club leather and the DS signature “watchstrap†seat upholstery.
With a 465 litre boot, five spacious seats, four doors and all the access and modularity of a hatchback, the DS5 looks set to be a great touring machine. Given the lists of positive impressions from the DS3, we are certainly looking forward to driving the DS5.
