Lexus Debuts New GT Hybrid Concept

A frugal car designed to cruise long distances in comfort, it is also a teaser for a new design language.

The LF-Gh is the company's idea of a high-performance saloon that can deliver an inspiring drive and carry passengers in comfort over long distances. Combining presence and emotional appeal with functionality, it also offers luxurious creature comforts and a large load space.

Built on a rear-wheel drive platform, it offers generous interior space for four occupants with a stretched greenhouse design. The LED lighting is one of the examples of new materials, electronics and dynamic systems we could see in future Lexus cars.

The LF-Gh features several new designs, such as the spindle-shaped grille that projects a resolute look, while also contributing to efficient aerodynamics and radiator and brake duct operation may eventually find their way onto production models. The concept also demonstrates how common features such as door mirrors and handles can make the car look sleeker and improve aerodynamics.

Inside the LF-Gh is a driver-orientated design that features a high-visibility instrument panel and intuitive controls on the centre console. Typical of the luxury marque, everything is finished in high-quality materials with fine attention to detail.

The blue background on the Lexus badge is an indication of the car's hybrid power plant. Lexus designed the tailpipes to blend in with the rear design rather than stand out. If the LF-Gh concept is a sign that Lexus is abandoning conservative designs in favour of striking looks, this might just be the start of something beautiful.
