Now you can hear that mad V12 all the better without the roof! New and fresh from Sant’Agata, Italy, the Raging Bull has charged onto our shores the convertible version of the Aventador.
Top-of-the-line Lamborghinis have always and will remain to be roadsters, and thus will not have a folding soft top like its smaller sibling the Gallardo Spyder. The two-piece roof is made entirely from carbon fiber using various technologies such as RTM and Forged Composite®. These technologies guarantee maximum aesthetic performance and stiffness although each component is extremely light, weighing less than 6 kg.
The top is easily removable, easy to handle, and being lightweight, simple to attach and can be stored in the front luggage compartment. Lamborghini staff were present to show us just how easy it was.
Weighing in at 50 kg heavier than the standard car, power and speed specifications remain unchanged. That is 700 bhp, 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h.
Other new tech in the car include a cylinder deactivation system when the engine is working at partial capacity, while a Stop & Start system includes high-performance capacitors known as supercaps to awaken the engine, a first in the super sports car segment.
The already awesome looking Aventador with the carbon fiber monocoque has been further enhanced with this lifestyle edge, adding a visual and aural dimension of exhilaration to enjoy this Lamborghini V12 even more. Unfortunately, I don't think many buyers will risk not having the convenience of a quick top-up-top-down solution. So don't expect to catch it topless very much.
