The chassis of the new A6 combines sporty precision with supreme comfort, with links made of aluminium and a redesigned power steering that features a highly efficient electromechanical drive. The executive sedan will also have wheels ranging from 16 to 20 inches in diameter. The Audi drive select dynamic handling system is standard with the new A6, and the front-wheel- drive models have the sporty ESP with electronic limited slip differential on board. For enhanced comfort, adaptive air suspension with controlled damping and dynamic steering will be available soon as options.

The main factors assessed in the Safety category are the availability of active and passive safety systems and the degree to which vehicles are fitted with these systems as standard without any surcharge. Mercedes-Benz took first place in this category. The Product Strength/Vehicle Quality category incorporates the results of 500 recent vehicle tests, includes those of external safety organizations such as the TÃœV and DEKRA reports and of the ADAC breakdown statistics. Mercedes-Benz also did outstandingly well in this category.

For the iF product design award 2011, the organizers received 2,756 submissions from 43 countries for products registered in 16 categories. It rockets from a dead stop to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The guttural roaring and growling, backed by the signature rhythm of the five-cylinder firing order make up the classic Audi soundtrack. A sound flap in the exhaust branch intensifies the sound even further. The flap is controlled via the standard Sport button, which also varies the engine response.

MINI Tuning Specialist supports the initiative: "TUNE IT! SAFE!" by the VDAT by kitting out the emission-free concept car.


It was Tomas Enge who held the lead from pole position as the 22 car grid thundered along the main straight into the first corner. Everyone made it around the Senna S with Peter Dumbreck in the No. 23 Sumo Power Nissan GT-R holding onto the rear of the leading Aston Martin, while Clivio Piccione in the No. 10 Hexis Aston Martin was being pressurised by the No. 2 Vitaphone Maserati of Enrique Bernoldi, with the Brazilian sweeping into third place on lap 2. Starting from the back of the grid, the No. 5 Matech Ford of Richard Westbrook was on the move early on, moving up four places in the first three laps and a further three places by lap 9 in his attempt to get ahead of the No. 1 Vitaphone Maserati of Andrea Bertolini. Bertolini was holding a points scoring position in ninth place, which became 10th when he was passed by the Triple H Team Hegersport Maserati of Daniel Serra.
