Audi's 10th Win At The 24 Heures Du Mans

Audi won the gruelling race for the 10th time on Sunday with Andre Lotterer taking the chequered flag in the German manufacturer's R18 TDI car.


Right from the start, it was a relatively trouble-free run from pole to chequered flag for Imperatori, with the exception of a hairy moment when the race leader caught up with back markers in the latter stages of the 12-lap race. However behind him, it was a repeat of Round 3's white-knuckle battle between Sawa and Avila. Avila got away well from the second row and, as Sawa challenged Imperatori for the lead off the line, the Macau racer was able to charge round the outside and into second, albeit briefly. The Japanese ace reclaimed the position by turn four, and from there Avila relentlessly piled on the pressure. The trio were nose to tail in the early stages before the lightning-quick Imperatori pulled out a modest gap.

Frankfurt To Host ROC 2011

The 24th Race Of Champions will be held on the weekend of December 3-4, 2011 at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany.


The Austrian energy drink company, which is fast gaining in popularity amongst Formula One aficionados thanks to the double championship winning feat of Red Bull Racing in 2010 and the perfect start to the 2011 campaign by world champion Sebastian Vettel, is expecting crowds upwards of 50,000 spectators to turn up for this show car event. On 22 April, motor sports enthusiasts can also expect the festivities to start at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, where the Red Bull Speed Street event will be based. One can expect Audi and Infiniti cars on display, as well as Red Bull Racing merchandise on sale, while Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Singapore will be setting up a gaming area featuring the Red Bull X2010 super car in its PS3 game GT5 alongside four units of F1 simulators courtesy of Singapore GP, making the event a real motor racing extravaganza.

Formula One Is Coming To Orchard Road This April!

The public can now catch a first glimpse of the F1 show car outside the Singapore Marriott Hotel this weekend.


The IPS version of the Evora allows the driver to switch between manual paddle shift and automatic drive modes. The driver also has the option of selecting ‘sport’ mode which showcases the Lotus sport driving experience allowing the driver to really feel each gear shift and be in complete control of the transmission. Lotus Chief Executive Officer Dany Bahar said: “The Evora IPS is set to broaden the appeal of the Evora and reach out to a wider market and we hope it will be popular with established automatic locations such as Asia. It’s been a while since Lotus created an automatic and we’ve spent a great deal of time refining this one to make sure that it perfectly complements the Evora drive experience.” Khun Seree Rakvit, President of Niche Cars Lotus, and sole authorised dealer for Lotus in Thailand, commented: “We are honoured to present the Evora IPS to the region at the Bangkok Motor Show. The Evora IPS (Intelligent Precision Shift) and the Evora Enduro GT concept have made their first appearance in Asia at the 32nd Bangkok Motor Show.


The last time that a Red Bull Racing showcar performed in Singapore was back in February 2008 as a special item in that year’s Chingay Parade. It was the first time that the Singapore public had experienced the thunderous engine note of a F1 car, months before the inaugural Singapore night race took place in Marina Bay. But even then, it was a mere sneak peek as the F1 car segment lasted barely five minutes before the Chingay Parade proper. This time round, the Red Bull Speed Street events will be fully fledged standalone showcar events lasting about an hour each, in which the public can expect manoeuvres such as short sprints, burnouts, engine breaks and donuts, which one won’t get to see often in actual F1 races. This will mark the first time that Red Bull is organising a F1 showcar event in Malaysia as the blue and silver Red Bull was previously unavailable for sale in the country. The showcar event in Malaysia will take place along the entire stretch of Jalan Bukit Bintang starting from the Pavillion Mall to the Jalan Pudu junction, while the Singapore event will stretch from the Orchard Link junction to the Buyong Road intersection near the Istana. Red Bull is also working closely with Singapore Grand Prix, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) to organise the event in Singapore.

The season is set to be the best in years, with very strong interest from new teams and drivers and a close cooperation with HKAA in three of the six events. Motorsport Asia has received applications from Teams running Chevrolet’s and BMW’s as well as varied entries from the usually popular Honda’s. The Series’ will get underway on 20th March with its first ever visit to the Guangdong International Circuit, located in the Guangzhou province. It will then continue with four races in May at two Asian Festival Of Speed events. Rounds 3 & 4 will be held at the Korean International Circuit for the AFOS season opener before heading to Malaysia at the end of May for the next two rounds. ATCS will take a one-month break before meeting up again in Sepang for Rounds 7 & 8. The 2011 ATCS Season will end in Indonesia where the drivers are excited to make a return to the very challenging and resurfaced Sentul International Circuit.

Motorsport Asia unveils the Asian Touring Car Series which is set to visit five nations competing in a total of 10 championship rounds before finishing the season at the Macau GP.
