The MON 109 rated Motorsport 109 is a direct replacement that produces more power than any other unleaded fuel - up to five percent more than premium unleaded. Recommended for applications with turbo charged and naturally aspirated engines with compression ratios up to 15:1, it offers better detonation protection as well. The Q16 is a highly oxygenated MON 116 fuel that requires a four to six percent increase in fuel flow, which will make three to five percent more power than competitive 116 octane fuels and is excellent in higher compression engines that have 17:1 compression ratios. With its vaporization characteristics, this fuel allows more efficient combustion, lower engine operating temperatures and offer greater detonation protection. It is most suitable for drifting and time attack applications. The MON 117 C16 is recommended for use in turbo charged or super charged engines and nitrous applications with compression ratios of up to 17:1. Popular with Formula D, D1GP drifters, Time Attack racers, it is also recommended by the top nitrous oxide companies. VP Import is a MON 120+ fuel that promises maximum power and torque in small displacement, high RPM engines, be it turbo charged, naturally aspirated or fitted with nitrous systems. Makes five percent more power than C16 and similar non-oxygenated fuels. It works best under high temperatures generated by mechanical heat.

It was a wet morning as we all made our way to the rendezvous point in the eastern part of our little island. Great, now how on earth are we going to enjoy driving with the roof down in such crappy weather? Well, let’s just say the dude above wanted us to have a blast, so lo and behold, the weather stopped almost instantly by the time we arrived. Well, you should know what wet roads lead to – over steering antics, that sort. In the case of the 370Z and the Boxster S, it wasn't hard. Switch off the traction control, floor the pedal at the right time, steer with confidence and tadaa… “dorift-o”, as what Krado would say. Not so easy with the four-wheel driven TTS though – but a little pull of the handbrake with no traction control will see it go sideways, although not as spectacular as the other two.

Increased fuel octane helps to eliminate pre-ignition and detonation, which translates into more horsepower and torque. On the move, the driving characteristic of the MiTo isn’t what it seems to be. You may opine initially that the ride sways more towards the soft side, but when you set its DNA system from “Neutral” to “Dynamic”, you can feel the MiTo stiffen up and provide a reasonable amount of grip that is both sharp and rather precise. Pity the factory-fitted Bridgestone Turanza ER300 tyres that don’t seem to cooperate as they tend to screech and struggle for grip when pushed hard, killing your enthusiasm when shooting in hard into a corner. When it comes to the brakes, the anchors on the MiTo – standard with ABS and EBD - are assuring and offers respectable stopping power with no feeling of brake fade which is useful at hauling all that 1,145kg to a complete halt.
