Developed by a small team of Ford Performance engineers in Europe and US, the new Focus RS is the third generation of Focus RS cars, following models launched in 2002 and 2009. It will be the 30th car to wear the legendary RS badge, following such technology trendsetters as the 16-valve 1970 Escort RS1600, the turbocharged Sierra RS Cosworth of 1985 (oh, and remember its radical aerodynamics?), and the four-wheel-drive 1992 Escort RS Cosworth. The all-new Focus RS is also the first ever RS model that will be sold around the world and produced for all markets at Fordâ€™s Saarlouis, Germany, manufacturing plant beginning late this year.

Listen up all hot-hatch fans: Ford's all-wheel drive Focus RS all set to thrill!

I must admit though that I took sometime to warm up to the car. Getting into a huggy Recaros for one, was a bit of a squeeze, and I'm not, erâ€¦ horizontally challenged. I never had this problem with the old car, and I remember it being a lot roomier up front. But let's not jump the gun and focus (sorry, had to do it) on the new car.

Having owned the previous ST (2.5) before, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the new ST. Despite being a very different machine, Ford has indeed brought back the magic!

So here is the new Focus then, in its third and - what must probably be - the finest iteration. Itâ€™s not merely a facelift, mind you; itâ€™s a major rework. Updated engine, new transmission, new exterior and even a new antenna. Well the chassis remains largely similar to the second generation, only points to note are strengthened mountings, improved bushings and steering, and better brakes.
