Interested participants will need to be 18 and above as of 1 January 2012, physically fit, fluent in written and spoken English, commit to all scheduled training sessions and available to participate in all four days of the race (20 to 23 September). Successful candidates for the 150 available positions will be notified by 25 April 2012.

All selected participants will be receiving specialist hands-on training in fire safety and track recovery, while selected senior officials will be given attachment opportunities at overseas circuits to gain practical experience. This year, selected senior officials will be sent to Adelaide, Melbourne and Darwin in Australia as well as Sepang, Malaysia for training attachments.

On 4th and 5th September, 800 volunteer track marshals and senior officials from Singapore GP congregated at Johor Circuit for a full 2 day “shakedown” in preparation for this year’s F1.
