Pre-series Taycan Turbo S ripped through the Nordschleife 26 seconds quicker than the current version.


Development of the car included significant CFD simulation to optimize the ALA performance, with the exceptional downforce requiring an entire rework of the Aventador’s active and passive dynamic systems to exploit the car’s physical boundaries. Developing ALA strategies for the Aventador SVJ through both static and dynamic virtual simulations, a virtual attempt at the Nürburgring Nordschleife already returned a better lap time than the Lamborghini Huracán Performante.

Something no one saw coming, the Aventador ‘SVJ’ laps the ‘Ring in... lets just say it's fast


The record was not a one-hit wonder either, as another GT2 RS piloted by Lars Kern and Nick Tandy was able to set multiple record-breaking laps before the ultimate final record time was set. It was Kern, a Porsche test driver by trade and a passionate racer, who accomplished the 6:47.3 record lap time with an average speed of 184.11 km/h.

The Clubsport S is characterised by similarly good balance to the “normal” Clubsport, even at higher levels of lateral acceleration, allowing even higher cornering speeds. Braking performance was also perfected, in particular to prevent the rear-end from breaking away, especially when braking into very fast corners. Combined with the aerodynamics measures, this results in the driver being able to brake into bends with the Golf GTI Clubsport S in a controlled way, without losing driving stability, resulting in extremely good driveability up to the limits.
