Lewis Hamilton breaks records with ninth British Grand Prix win at Silverstone. Bravo!

Lewis Hamilton has finally claimed his long-awaited win, and it was also a record-breaking ninth British Grand Prix victory at Silverstone.

The Mercedes driver demonstrated his immense experience and skill, holding off a determined challenge from Lando Norris and Max Verstappen to secure the win.

From the start, pole-sitter George Russell led the charge, with Hamilton close behind. The race quickly turned into a thrilling battle between the two Mercedes cars and the McLaren duo of Norris and Oscar Piastri.

Classic British weather played its hand too, as the conditions began to change rapidly.

The drama kicked up a notch as the field switched to intermediate tyres when a spot of rain landed. When the skies cleared and the track dried, Hamilton pitted for slicks a lap before Norris.

This timely decision, coupled with a slow pit stop for Norris, allowed Hamilton to seize the lead.

While Russell faced disappointment, retiring due to a water system issue, and Max Verstappen managed to snatch P2 from Norris in the closing stages, Hamilton stayed ahead to clinch an emotional victory.

This win not only marked his first P1 finish since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix but also set a new record for the most wins in a single Grand Prix.

Verstappen, despite showing impressive speed on the hard tyres towards the end, couldn't close the gap to Hamilton and settled for P2 with Red Bull. Norris rounded off the podium in third, delivering another strong performance for McLaren.

Piastri, struck with bad luck in the pit stops, brought the second McLaren home in fourth, while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz finished fifth. Nico Hulkenberg impressed with a sixth-place finish for Haas.

Aston Martin had a better outing this weekend, with Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. Alex Albon added two points for Williams by finishing ninth.

Yuki Tsunoda secured the final point for RB in tenth, narrowly beating Logan Sargeant, who finished eleventh for Williams. Haas’s Kevin Magnussen took twelfth, followed by RB’s Daniel Ricciardo in thirteenth.

Charles Leclerc had a frustrating race. Despite making early gains, his decision to switch to intermediate tyres early saw him slip back, eventually finishing fourteenth.

Valtteri Bottas finished for Kick Sauber in fifteenth, while Esteban Ocon managed sixteenth in what was a tough day for Alpine. Sergio Perez endured another difficult race, ending up seventeenth.

Zhou Guanyu was the final classified runner in eighteenth for Kick Sauber; Pierre Gasly failed to finish, having returned to the pits at the end of the formation lap due to a gearbox problem, capping off a challenging weekend for Alpine.

Hamilton’s victory reminded everyone why he remains one of the greatest drivers in the sport. Silverstone never disappoints, and that was a masterclass of a race. Get in there Lewis!
