This is the likely future of performance cars, folks, four furious cylinders and a helping heaping of hybrid horsepower. Long live the king?

It’s the car Ferrari said they’d never make. The company’s 2014-18 CEO, the late Sergio Marchionne, when asked if Ferrari would make an SUV, famously said in 2016, “You’ll have to shoot me first!” Well, he must have had a change of heart, because a couple months after he stepped down from his role, test mules of a high-riding Ferrari were spied in the wild. And now, four years later, we arrive at this: the new Ferrari Purosangue.

Electric vehicles in Singapore thus far have generally fallen into one of two camps: expensive and European (e.g. Jaguar, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz), or affordable and Asian (e.g. Hyundai, MG, BYD). The new Peugeot e-2008 however, is the first to break those trends, as it hails from France, is in the Cat A COE bracket, and costs $78,888 without said COE.

Oh, BMW, talk about squandering an advantage… The Bavarian marque seemingly stole a march on its traditional rivals by getting into the EV game way ahead of time with the forward-thinking but niche i3 city car. Yet it took 7 years for its next all-electric follow-up – the iX3 SUV – to hit the market and another year on top of that before we saw its four-door EV model, by which time many rivals had already populated the segment. But we’re not here to wonder if the company could have flicked the switch sooner, we just need to answer one question: is the BMW i4 worth your time and money?
