Gran Coupe. For the uninitiated, that’s BMW-speak for the sedan version of the coupe version of a sedan.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I’d like you to meet the new M440i Gran Coupe. Sharing the same controversial front end as its two-door siblings, the Gran Coupe is touted as a more practical version of the 4 Series coupe.

New Year, New Audis!

We’ve gotten word from Audi Singapore that a whopping TEN new and updated models will arrive in Singapore come 2022. While some of their lineup are getting mid-life updates, there are a host of new-to-Singapore spicy S and RS models. The ones we’re especially looking out for include the five-cylinder RS 3, and the massive S8 ubersedan!

Potent Weapon | Audi S3 Sedan

I recently had a go in the vanilla Audi A3 Sportback – a formidable competitor to the Mercedes-Benz A180 and BMW 116i.

While not meant to be a hot hatch, the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine was pleasantly peppy even with just 148 bhp. Unsurprisingly, several little foibles let it down on the performance front. Steering was somewhat vague and disconnected, and I never really knew what the front wheels were up to.

We Rock Down to Electric Avenue

Here at Burnpavement, we like fast and exciting cars. Unfortunately, given how the world is moving towards electrification, cars that go vroom-psssh might soon be a thing of the past.

However, the retirement of the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) isn’t the demise of enthusiast cars as we know them. On the flipside, Electric Vehicles (EV) have opened up a whole new dimension of excitement for us enthusiasts.

Models like the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes-EQ EQC have surprised us with how they push the limits of physics. While they aren’t quite enthusiast cars in the traditional sense – like the lovely Alpine A110 – EVs still put a silly grin on your face when you mash the accelerator pedal.

Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost wafts into Singapore

Disruptors, outliers, and visionaries – these are some people that Rolls-Royce are aiming their Black Badge models at.

Their Black Badge range was first debuted on the Wraith and Ghost in 2016, followed by the Dawn in 2017. It was then joined by the Cullinan SUV in 2019, for a new segment of clients wanting to drive themselves.

Yesterday, the latest Black Badge model made its Southeast Asian debut here in Singapore, with a Black Badge version of the ‘Post Opulent’ era Ghost.
