FIA taps Siemens as Official Digital Twin Sponsor

Siemens has been named the FIA’s Official Digital Twin Sponsor.

Siemens has been named the FIA’s Official Digital Twin Sponsor, with the governing body widening its use of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to shape the aero concepts behind single-seater regulations from Formula 1 right through to Formula 4.

Using Designcenter NX, the FIA’s aero team can build complex car models, visualise them in lifelike detail, iterate quickly, then unleash heavy-duty CFD to test ideas before a single piece of carbon is cut.

“We’re proud to partner with global technology leaders like Siemens to shape the future of motorsport. World-class brands are helping us deliver progress across performance, safety and sustainability.”

Craig Edmondson, Chief Commercial Officer, FIA

Performance and safety work can be done virtually, with a lighter environmental footprint than churning through physical prototypes and wind-tunnel hours.

Since 2022, the FIA has created over 14,000 CAD parts and run 10,000+ computational simulations in this virtual skunkworks.

“Siemens gives us the precision tools to design and test complex aerodynamic concepts virtually, key to ensuring that racing remains closer, fairer, and more competitive, all while supporting our ambition to reach net zero by 2030.”

Jason Somerville, Head of Aerodynamics, FIA

On top of NX and CFD, the FIA is expanding Teamcenter® X as its PLM backbone. And there’s a wider play with Simcenter® X, opening the door to Amesim, STAR-CCM+ and HEEDS for proper design exploration and optimisation.

Why does this matter to fans? Because good rules make good racing. If the FIA can prototype regulation changes virtually, then wheel-to-wheel battles get cleaner without the series wandering down expensive cul-de-sacs.

“We are proud to deepen our collaboration with the FIA as their Official Digital Twin Sponsor. Siemens Xcelerator is enabling the FIA and its partners to design, simulate and optimise with greater precision.”

Nand Kochhar, VP, Automotive & Transportation, Siemens Digital Industries Software

Siemens also joins the FIA’s Global Partnership Programme, a community built to push innovation, sustainability and safety across motorsport and mobility.
