Aston Martin Valhalla Makes Dynamic Debut at Monaco Grand Prix Weekend

The Aston Martin Valhalla is the brand’s first series production mid-engined supercar, and a poster child for performance-meets-pedigree.

And who better to pilot the Aston Martin Valhalla than a two-time Formula One World Champion and current Aston Martin F1 driver, Fernando Alonso?

Monaco has seen its fair share of legends, but when Alonso took the wheel and weaved through Casino Square in an AMR25-inspired shade of Podium Green, you could almost hear the ghosts of past champions nod in approval.

The Valhalla isn’t just another pretty face with a fancy badge. Beneath its carbon-clad skin lies a PHEV powertrain delivering 1,079PS and 1,100Nm of torque. That’s courtesy of a bespoke flat-plane crank 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 828PS, aided by three electric motors contributing another 251PS. A 0-100 km/h sprint is done in just 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 350 km/h.

But it’s not all brute force. The Valhalla is the product of a marriage between Aston Martin’s road car artisans and the white-coated wizards at Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT), the same minds who help run the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team.

As Alonso put it, “Unveiling Valhalla’s dynamic capability to the world at the Monaco Grand Prix weekend is a fantastic moment for both me and the brand. It delivers on all of the raw feelings and emotions you look for when behind the wheel of a car like Valhalla.”

Visually, the Valhalla is as dramatic as the streets it prowls. That lime-green livery slicing through the Monaco haze was a statement in itself. Yet despite its futuristic form, the Valhalla maintains a certain classicism that pays homage to Aston Martin’s storied lineage.

Torque vectoring via twin front e-motors, a new 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with an integrated e-motor, and an electronically controlled rear differential make the Valhalla as brainy as it is brawny.

And if we’re counting milestones, the Valhalla is Aston’s first plug-in hybrid. It is the first production vehicle with true EV range. It is first to feature that howling flat-plane V8. The list of “firsts” is long, but the impression it leaves is immediate.

CEO Adrian Hallmark summed it up best: “To witness the culmination of the tireless work from all teams involved, showcased on an iconic F1 circuit like Monaco and driven by an icon like Fernando, is a significant moment in Aston Martin’s rich history of both road cars and racing.”

If you’re thinking of putting one in your garage, good luck. Production is capped at just 999 units, with deliveries slated to begin in the second half of 2025.
