First Impressions
From the moment I slid behind the wheel of the latest 2025 Skoda Octavia RS, it was clear that Skoda had taken an already compelling recipe and dialed up the excitement. With its improved 2.0-litre TSI engine, now generating a punchy 265 PS—20 more than its predecessor—this is undeniably the most powerful Octavia ever to wear the RS badge.

While the emblems display “vRS,” it’s worth noting that Skoda officially refers to the model simply as “RS.” Paired with a snappy 7-speed DSG transmission that directs power enthusiastically to the front wheels, the car launches from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds, easily hustling its way up to a top speed of 250 km/h.

Compared to the outgoing model, this new Octavia RS feels tighter and more robust, almost tempting you to take it out onto the track to fully explore its true limits.
On The Road
On the open road, the Octavia RS delivered the exhilarating performance I had hoped for. Power delivery was robust and immediate, with the engine feeling punchy and responsive throughout the rev range. Whether overtaking on highways or powering out of corners on winding roads, ample thrust was always available, making for an engaging drive every single time. Compared to the outgoing model, this new Octavia RS feels tighter and more robust, almost tempting you to take it out onto the track to fully explore its true limits.

Grip & Go
When it comes to handling, the Octavia RS genuinely impressed. Equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), it exhibited minimal body roll even during aggressive cornering. The VAQ electronically controlled limited-slip differential worked seamlessly, effectively distributing power and preventing noticeable traction loss. Coupled with the sticky Goodyear tyres wrapped around attractive 19-inch ‘Elias’ anthracite alloy wheels, grip levels were commendable, inspiring confidence in every turn.

The steering weight felt well-judged—heavy enough to provide a reassuring sense of control at speed—but I would have preferred a touch more sharpness for an even greater feeling of agility. Nonetheless, the car’s balance and composure were undeniable, making it easy to settle into a rhythm, particularly on spirited drives.

Looks That Thrill?
Visually, the new Octavia RS proudly displays its performance intentions. Aggressive RS-specific bumpers and striking full Matrix LED headlights with distinctive LED daytime running lights accentuate its sporty stance, differentiating it from the standard Octavia lineup. Additionally, enthusiasts seeking more versatility will appreciate the availability of the Combi (estate) version, which offers extra practicality without sacrificing performance.

Inside Scoop
Inside, the cabin retains much of what made the pre-facelifted model appealing. RS-exclusive sports seats upholstered in tactile Suedia material offer superb comfort and support, especially during spirited drives. The sporty leather multifunction steering wheel feels great in the hand, enhancing the connection between the driver and the car. However, it’s worth noting that interior updates from the previous model are subtle, focusing more on refinement than outright transformation.

Final Thoughts
Overall, the latest Skoda Octavia RS is a well-rounded performance machine, combining everyday practicality with genuine sporting credentials. While it might benefit from slightly sharper steering, its blend of power, grip, and composure is undeniably compelling. It’s a car that genuinely makes every drive exhilarating.
