If anyone doubted Porsche’s intent with the Taycan Turbo GT, the latest lap record at Brazil’s legendary Interlagos circuit should put that to rest.
Fresh from record-breaking performances at the Nürburgring, Shanghai International Circuit, and Laguna Seca, the all-electric Taycan has now conquered yet another continent.

Behind the wheel of the Taycan Turbo GT was none other than three-time IMSA champion and 24 Hours of Daytona winner Felipe Nasr. On 5 February 2025, he tore through Interlagos’ 4.3km layout in an astonishing 1:42.1 minutes.
To put that into perspective, this feat not only obliterated the Taycan Turbo S’ previous best of 1:49.8 minutes but also undercut the lap time of the 911 Turbo S.
“I expected strong acceleration and brutal torque, but what really left me speechless was the overall balance and precision of the car. On the climb before ‘Curva do Café,’ I hit 272 km/h in Attack Mode, and coming out of ‘Curva do Sol,’ I was already pushing past 200 km/h. The way this car grips and delivers power is nothing short of phenomenal.”
Interlagos, officially known as Autódromo José Carlos Pace, is home to steep elevation changes, high-speed straights, and technical corners, it demands precision and raw performance. The Taycan Turbo GT delivered on all fronts, carving through the circuit like a finely-tuned scalpel.

Porsche’s record-setting campaign with the Taycan Turbo GT has been relentless. Prior to its success in South America, it had already established new benchmarks across Europe, North America, and Asia.
- Shanghai International Circuit (October 2024): The Taycan Turbo GT became the first EV to set an officially recognised lap record here, clocking 2:11.28 minutes.
- Laguna Seca, California (Spring 2024): Porsche’s electric missile posted a jaw-dropping 1:27.87 minutes, making it the fastest road-legal EV to ever lap the track.
- Nürburgring Nordschleife (Pre-production model): With Porsche development driver Lars Kern at the helm, the Taycan Turbo GT lapped the “Green Hell” in 7:07.55 minutes, a staggering 26 seconds faster than the Taycan Turbo S.

It’s no surprise that the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has been the choice for Porsche’s motorsport ambitions. Since May 2024, it has taken over as the official Formula E safety car, replacing the Taycan Turbo S.
With over 1,100PS, an upgraded pulse inverter with silicon carbide semiconductors, and Attack Mode for an extra 120kW boost, this machine is a rolling showcase of Porsche’s EV engineering prowess.

As Porsche Brazil CEO Peter Vogel aptly put it, “Our goal was to showcase the absolute capability of the new Taycan model series, and what better way to do that than setting a new record in time for its debut in Brazil?”
The message is clear: Porsche is making history.
